Apparently the producers of
Lost are planning an end date for the series. They haven't chosen a date or an end season yet, but they plan on doing so. This idea is kind of bittersweet for me. Lost is one of my favorite shows; I put it up there with 24, it's great. I don't, however, like it when a show goes on forever and turns to crap. A prime example would be "Alias". Alias was one of my favorite shows but turned into a flaming pile of crap early into season 4. The first 3 seasons of Alias were amazing, but when season 4 rolled around I began to watch it in hopes of it getting better; it didn't. The article I linked below goes into all the details with an example of JK Rowling and her writing Harry Potter which I find to be a great analogy to the situation. I'd much rather have fond memories of a show that ends strong and at the right time than a show that flops around like a fish out of water trying to get more viewers before it dies. Lost, you are a great show, but I personally think you should end at season 5 the way things are going right now. You are introducing too many characters with weak explanation and forcing viewers to follow you instead of encouraging them to chase after you. SPOILER WARNING: Please don't show me any new colonies of people on the island (or adjacent island) this season. It's too much of a stretch for me. Take me back to the mysteries of the main island and that big black ghostly thing and polar bears. Those are the things that intrigue me. END SPOILERS However, I can't wait for you to return this February. I have been "lost" without you.
